Explore Careers in Agriculture

4-H youth in grades 8 and up are invited to attend the 3rd Annual Explore Careers in Ag Day being held at Riverview LLP.  It’s time to discover the opportunities awaiting you in the world of agriculture!  Topics will include resume writing and job interview skills along with hands-on activities in the fields of animal nutrition, agronomy and animal science.  Busing will be available from various locations. Parents are welcome to attend. Jump on board as we discover the opportunities awaiting 4-H youth in the vast field of agriculture!

Youth of the Month

Youth can be the "Youth of the Month" once every three months.
If chosen, you will be sent an email to not only notify you but we also ask for a nice picture of the Youth in Action as well. Youth in Action image can be at their Club Meeting, Fairs, or 4-H Event.

Spend your summer in a youth development internship with 4-H

Are you looking for work experience in the youth development field? We are offering county-based 4-H summer intern positions throughout the state of Minnesota. Each internship will provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about the University of Minnesota Extension and explore job opportunities in 4-H Youth Development. Most positions will be for ten or eleven weeks, with flexible starting dates.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, and at least two years of undergraduate study is preferred. Candidates must apply online through the University of Minnesota job site. The application materials will include a standard application, résumé, cover letter, list of three references and a college transcript.
The application deadline is open until positions are filled with a preference for candidates who apply by Feb. 15. For more information, please contact Kati Birhanzl at kbirhanz@umn.edu.

Save the Date! Metro Art Force is March 3rd!

Metro Art Force is a special art program for youth artists and their families. If you are someone who can’t get enough of creating things, is very serious about learning new techniques, and has the patience to practice those skills, then you need to register for the Art Force Workshop. The classes are open to 4-H families and their friends of any age, including adults.  However, parent/guardian must attend with Cloverbud and younger members.
When: Saturday March 3rd, 2018
Time:   9 AM - 2PM
Where: Phyllis Wheatley Community Center
             1301 N 10th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55411
Cost of Workshop: The cost is $15 per person for all 4-H members, and $40 max per family. This fee includes all workshop costs and materials. Please make checks payable to Hennepin County 4-H. Partial or full scholarships are available.

Save the Date! Urban 4-H Showcase is April 28th!

Mark your calendars for the 2018 Urban 4-H Showcase, a day dedicated to sharing unique talents, presenting what you've accomplished in your 4-H club, and celebrating 4-H achievements!
When:  Saturday, April 28, 12:00 - 5:00 pm.
Where:  TBD! (Unfortunately, Jefferson Elementary will be under construction during this time! Stay tuned for more details!)
What: 

  • Project Fair - Share what you have learned in your 4-H club (or individually) with a project display, illustrated presentation or video. Individual or group presentations are welcome.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain feedback on your County Fair project! 
  • Performing Arts - Showcase your musical performance, specialty act, or Share the Fun
  • Musical and specialty performances are to be 3-5 minutes long.
  • Clubs or groups can put together a 6 minute skit for Share The Fun. Share the Fun skits are the creative work of club members utilizing zany ideas, and can include song, dance and dramatic or comedic acting.

Registration & transportation information will open in mid-February!
